"Italian wall lizards evolved larger heads, a stronger bite, “a completely new gut structure,” 1 and have changed their territorial habits." (Claim #E4023)
Response
The head size (and resulting bite strength) is an adjustable genetic setting, not a new feature. The territorial habits are the result of more abundant food, rather than a new feature. The “completely new gut structure” is actually just an enlargement of previously existing (but smaller) muscles. 2 Again, this is an adjusted setting, not a new feature.
