"Does Genesis contain two contradictory creation accounts?" (Alleged Contradiction #E9846)
Genesis 1 tells us that man was created after the animals. However, Genesis 2 tells us that man was created after the animals:
And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him. And out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof.
Genesis 2:18-19
Response
Genesis 1 is a summary, while Genesis 2 provides a more detailed account of the creation of man. Genesis 2 recaps by stating that God created the animals, but they were created before man.
