"Does righteousness come from keeping the Law?" (Alleged Contradiction #E9504)
And they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless.
Luke 1:6
I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.
Galatians 2:21
Response
No, righteousness does not come by following the Law; it comes through faith in Jesus Christ. Zacharias and Elisabeth were righteous before God because of their faith; and in addition to that, they also kept the law blamelessly. Blameless is not the same as perfect—it just means that no one could blame them—no one could judge them.
