"How long was the ark afloat?" (Alleged Contradiction #E5082)
And the ark rested in the seventh month, on the seventeenth day of the month, upon the mountains of Ararat. And the waters decreased continually until the tenth month: in the tenth month, on the first day of the month, were the tops of the mountains seen.
Genesis 8:4-5
Response
The Ark rested on the mountains of Ararat in the seventh month, and the tops of the mountains were seen in the tenth month.
A ship extends well below the water line. The Ark rested on the mountains before Noah could see the tops of the mountains because the ship’s hull extended so far below the water line.
