"Was Jesus the son of David?" (Alleged Contradiction #E9919)
Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh;
Romans 1:3
While the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them, Saying, What think ye of Christ? whose son is he? They say unto him, The Son of David. He saith unto them, How then doth David in spirit call him Lord, saying, The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footstool? If David then call him Lord, how is he his son?
Matthew 22:45

Response
Jesus is not telling the Pharisees that He is not the son of David (according to the flesh): He is telling them that He is more than just a son of David. If He were merely a son, then why would David call Him “Lord”? The fact that David calls his own son “Lord” indicates that Jesus Christ is more than just a man—He is God in the flesh! And the Pharisees did not want to believe this.
