"How high were the pillars?" (Alleged Contradiction #E4844)
For he cast two pillars of brass, of eighteen cubits high apiece: and a line of twelve cubits did compass either of them about.
I Kings 7:15
Also he made before the house two pillars of thirty and five cubits high, and the chapiter that was on the top of each of them was five cubits.
II Chronicles 3:15
Response
I Kings says the pillars were 18 cubits high each, whereas II Chronicles gives the height combined and rounded down. For instance, if each pillar was 17.6 cubits high (rounds to 18 cubits each), this would be a combined height of 35.2 cubits (rounds to 35).
