"Does God have a body?" (Alleged Contradiction #E7170)
God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
John 4:24
Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have.
Luke 24:39
However, other verses seem to mention God having a physical body (Genesis 3:8; Exodus 33:11-23; 34:5; Deuteronomy 23:12-13; Ezekiel 1:27; 8:2; Habakkuk 3:3-4; and, of course, Jesus Christ had a physical body but was fully God).
Response
God is a spirit. However, this does not mean that He cannot take on physical form; Jesus Christ is fully God yet had a body. However, above all God is a spirit, and so we cannot worship Him in flesh only—we need to worship Him in spirit. This is the point of John 4:24.
