Matthew 6:31, 34
I Timothy 5:8
Response
A man can provide for his house without worrying about how he will provide. If he seeks God’s kingdom above all else, God will take care of his family.
In Matthew 6, Jesus is telling us not to worry about how we will provide, but rather “seek…first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness” (Matthew 6:33). This is a completely different topic than what I Timothy is talking about. I Timothy 5:8 tells a man not to abandon his family: he has a responsibility to them. He must provide for them, but if he is seeking God’s kingdom, he does not need to worry about how he will provide—God will help him.
