Some verses claim that no one is good: Isaiah 64:6, Mark 10:18, and Romans 3:10, for example. However, other verses talk about people that are good: Matthew 5:45, Matthew 13:47-48, Matthew 22:10, and Luke 23:50, for example.
Response
No person is good based on God’s standards on his own.
It is only through Christ that we can be made pure before God’s eyes and be enabled with the power to do what is good. Furthermore, “good” is a relative term: based on God’s standards, no one is good; but based on man’s standards, some people are. This is because man looks on the outward appearance only, but God looks at the heart.
