Faint sun paradox

Some suggest that the sun would have been 6% fainter prior to the Cambrian period, and up to 20-30% fainter before that.  This is more than enough to plunge the earth into runaway glaciation with no way to recover, thus preventing life from ever forming up to the present. ^{1 2}
