"Did God call Abraham before or after he moved to Haran?" (Alleged Contradiction #E6340)
And he said, Men, brethren, and fathers, hearken; The God of glory appeared unto our father Abraham, when he was in Mesopotamia, before he dwelt in Charran, and said unto him, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and come into the land which I shall shew thee.
Acts 7:2-3
And the days of Terah were two hundred and five years: and Terah died in Haran. Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee … So Abram departed, as the LORD had spoken unto him; and Lot went with him: and Abram was seventy and five years old when he departed out of Haran.
Genesis 11:32-12:1
Response
God called Abram before he moved to Haran. Genesis says that “the LORD had said unto Abram…”. Genesis does not say when God said this to Abram, just that it had been in the past, and so there is no contradiction.
