"Does God sleep?" (Alleged Contradiction #E5872)
The LORD is thy keeper: the LORD is thy shade upon thy right hand. The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night.
Psalm 121:3-4
Awake, why sleepest thou, O Lord? arise, cast us not off for ever.
Psalm 44:23
Response
No, God does not sleep. In Psalm 44, the psalmist is asking God a question because he feels as if God is sleeping, but this is just the psalmist’s impression.
This is a good reminder for us Christians; even when we are tempted to think that God does not care about us or is “asleep,” we can know by faith that He will never leave nor forsake us (Hebrews 13:5), and that He cares about us.
