"Did all of Saul’s family die with him?" (Alleged Contradiction #E6904)
So Saul died, and his three sons, and all his house died together.
I Chronicles 10:6
However, later we read that Ishbosheth, a son of Saul, is still alive (II Samuel 2:8), as well as two other sons of Saul of Rizpah (II Samuel 21:8).
Response
I Chronicles states that all Saul’s house died together, with three of his sons. Saul may (and did) have sons that were no longer part of his household (they had moved out). Furthermore, Rizpah was Saul’s concubine (II Samuel 3:7), not his wife, which may have changed how her sons were reckoned in relation to Saul’s household.
