Does Hell exist?

Many verses teach that Hell exists: Daniel 12:2, Matthew 13:41-42, Matthew 18:8-9, Matthew 22:13, Matthew 25:41, Matthew 25:46, Mark 9:43-48, Luke 16:22-24, John 5:28-29, II Thessalonians 1:8-9, Jude 7, Revelation 14:10-11, Revelation 20:10, and Revelation 20:14-15.

However, others say that the wicked simply die: Deuteronomy 29:20, Psalm 1:4-6, Psalm 34:16, Psalm 37:1-2, Psalm 37:20, Psalm 69:28, Proverbs 10:25, Proverbs 24:20, Obadiah 16, Romans 6:21, Romans 6:23, I Corinthians 3:17, II Corinthians 2:15, Galatians 6:8, Philippians 3:18-19, James 1:15, James 4:12, and James 5:20.

Others say that everyone goes to heaven: I Corinthians 15:22, I Timothy 4:10, and I John 2:2.

So does Hell exist?  Do all unsaved people go there, or does everyone go to heaven?

Yes, hell exists, and it is a real place.  All those who are not written in the Lamb’s book of life will spend an eternity there in torment.

Some people cite verses simply stating that the wicked die and exist on earth no more (e.g., Proverbs 10:25).  However, these verses do not change the fact of hell because they do not even address it.  Just because the wicked perish from earth does not mean that they cease to exist.

The Bible never says that everyone goes to heaven; Jesus said the opposite (Matthew 7:13-14).  Very few go to heaven because very few truly accept Christ.  I Corinthians 15:22 simply states that all will be “made alive,” which is true physically.  Everyone will be physically raised from the dead for judgment.  I Timothy 4:10 says that Christ is the savior of all men—but not all men accept Him.  This is why the verse goes on to say, “specially of those that believe.”  I John 2:2 says something similar: Christ died for all men, but this does not mean that all men will accept Christ’s gift of salvation.

If you have not yet repented of your sin and believed in Jesus Christ as your only hope of heaven, then you too are headed for an eternity in the lake of fire.  Please accept Christ before it is too late.
