"Did Moses see God face to face?" (Alleged Contradiction #E8510)
And the LORD spake unto Moses face to face, as a man speaketh unto his friend. And he turned again into the camp: but his servant Joshua, the son of Nun, a young man, departed not out of the tabernacle.
Exodus 33:11
And there arose not a prophet since in Israel like unto Moses, whom the LORD knew face to face …
Deuteronomy 34:10
And he said, Thou canst not see my face: for there shall no man see me, and live.
Exodus 33:20-23
Response
Moses saw God’s veiled face, not His face in all of His glory.
For instance, when Jesus Christ came to earth, people saw God face to face, for Jesus Christ is God. However, Jesus came with His glory veiled. In fact, Moses also provides an example; after speaking with God, Moses had to veil his face before the children of Israel because “his face shone” (Exodus 34:29).
