"Do evildoers prosper?" (Alleged Contradiction #E7761)

Evil shall slay the wicked: and they that hate the righteous shall be desolate.

Psalm 34:21

The tabernacles of robbers prosper, and they that provoke God are secure; into whose hand God bringeth abundantly.

Job 12:6

For I was envious at the foolish, when I saw the prosperity of the wicked. … Their eyes stand out with fatness: they have more than heart could wish. … Behold, these are the ungodly, who prosper in the world; they increase in riches.

Psalm 73:3, 7, 12

Righteous art thou, O LORD, when I plead with thee: yet let me talk with thee of thy judgments: Wherefore doth the way of the wicked prosper? wherefore are all they happy that deal very treacherously?

Response

The wicked often prosper in the here and now financially and physically. However, their ultimate end is destruction.

Although it’s difficult, we need to try to stop focusing on the here and now, because an eternity lies ahead. The poorest man, if he has Christ in his heart, is richer than the greatest king without Christ. Jesus informed us about the rich man and Lazarus in Luke 16:19-31; Lazarus was a beggar yet a Christian, and the rich man was not a Christian. In the end, the rich man had nothing and was in hell, and Lazarus had everything. Jesus put it best:

So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.

Luke 12:21

I hope you have Christ in your heart. If you do, you are richer than the richest man in the world!
