Response
Some of the demons are captives in prison even now, but not all, and Satan has not yet been captured.
The Bible tells us that Jesus “preached unto the spirits in prison” (I Peter 3:19). However, not all of the demons are in this prison yet. When Jesus cured the man possessed of devils in the country of the Gadarenes, the devils begged Jesus not to send them “into the deep” (Luke 8:30-31). These devils were afraid of being placed into prison early as well.
Satan will be bound for a thousand years (Revelation 20:2-3), but this has not happened yet. Some believe that “the angels that sinned” mentioned in II Peter 2:4 and Jude 6 refer to angels who left heaven and came to earth and married human women, mentioned in Genesis 6. If this is the case, it may be that God sends certain demons to prison early, but eventually all will be cast into Hell.
