Did Jesus forewarn the apostles of his death and resurrection?

We read in many places where Jesus forewarned the apostles of His death and resurrection (Matthew 20:18-19, Matthew 26:1-2, Matthew 26:31-32, Mark 8:31, Mark 10:33-34, Mark 14:28, Luke 18:31-33).  However, we read in John 20:9 that the disciples did not know about it.

Yes, Jesus taught them that He would be buried and raised from the dead.  However, the disciples did not understand.

Just because Jesus taught the disciples does not mean that they really listened or understood what Jesus was saying.  A math teacher may go over trigonometry to his class, but this does not necessarily mean that the students understand it.  Likewise, Jesus taught His disciples about the scriptures and prophecies, but whether they listened carefully and understood was up to them.
