The Old Testament says that circumcision was required (Genesis 7:7-19, Leviticus 12:3), and even in the New Testament, Timothy was circumcised (Acts 16:1-3). However, the New Testament seems to state that circumcision is not required (Galatians 5:2, Colossians 2:10-11). So is it required or not?
Response
No, it is not required in the New Testament, though there is nothing wrong with it either.
In the Old Testament, circumcision represented circumcision of the heart (Deuteronomy 30:6, Romans 2:29), as the Law was a “shadow of good things to come” (Hebrews 10:1). Thus, inward circumcision is what really matters, not outward circumcision.
