"Is adultery wrong?" (Alleged Contradiction #E3120)
Thou shalt not commit adultery.
Exodus 20:14
The beginning of the word of the LORD by Hosea. And the LORD said to Hosea, Go, take unto thee a wife of whoredoms and children of whoredoms: for the land hath committed great whoredom, departing from the LORD.
Hosea 1:2
Then said the LORD unto me, Go yet, love a woman beloved of her friend, yet an adulteress, according to the love of the LORD toward the children of Israel, who look to other gods, and love flagons of wine.
Hosea 3:1
Response
Yes, of course adultery is wrong. God specifically condemns adultery in the book of Hosea. 1 God commanded Hosea to marry a whore, not a married woman, and in Hosea 3 he is buying back his lawful wife again from whoredom. The point of the entire book is that yes, adultery and whoredom are very wrong, and so is spiritual adultery and whoredom in abandoning God.
