Evolutionists often present natural selection as a “cheap” idea that can do almost anything. Although creationists and evolutionists agree that natural selection happens, in reality, natural selection is very limited and acts very slowly. Before it can even begin, it must pay the following costs just to avoid extinction:
- “Coasting” cost (e.g., for humans, each pair of 2 adults must produce at least 2 children on average for the population to maintain its size)
- Random death
